Times are a changing

Being a traditional power in college athletics is no guarantee that someone will want to coach your program anymore.

Miami hires stalwart defensive coordinator Randy Shannon, only after no star-quality head coach wanted the position and now Alabama gets dismissed by flavor of the moment, Rich Rodriguez of West Virginia.

What does that say about the power of the name on the building?

The Crimson Tide can sell it any way they wish. The truth doesn't change. The name Alabama just isn't enough. Something big is lacking to get turned down, as the Hurricanes also found out.
