Big 12 fly by, Knight closing in on Rupp, Tigers hot

Missouri is playing well under new coach Mike Anderson and Sunday they continue along that road, cruising by Evansville 73-54 to remain unbeaten on the season.

The pressure defense is and warrior-type rebounding is getting it done for the Tigers. Against the Aces, Missouri pounded the boards for a 50-35 advantage while holding its' opponent to 28 percent shooting from the floor.

What did Northern Colorado shoot against Colorado last night?

For the Tigers, 6-foot-9 junior center Kalen Grimes recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds and three other players also finished in double figures.

Missouri is a completely different team this year under Anderson. The Buffs can be too next season if the right man is hired.

Drake goes into Ames and punks Iowa State 80-78, giving the Cyclones their second-straight loss to an in-state school. Northern Iowa just beat them in late November.

ISU lost the game on, get this, a driving layup with less than five seconds to go.

A driving layup?

Where is the help on defense?

Greg McDermott, the new coach in Ames is a good one so look for him to tighten up that porous defense. The Cyclones do have talent. Rahshon Clark is a rugged rebounder, Wesley Johnson is a talented freshman forward from Texas getting it done early, 6-foot-11 junior center Jiri Hubalek is solid in the middle and junior guard Mike Taylor can light it up from outside.

Tonight, Bob Knight looks to tie Adolph Rupp for second place on the all-time wins list as Texas Tech travels to Stanford.
