Buffs earn victory, many more coming doubtful

O.K., we all know a win is a win.

Doesn't matter if it's ugly, it's "ours."

And it sure beats losing.

But if we were to keep this on the down low, whisper it between one another or, um, have an understanding, then we can be honest and admit CU's 88-86 victory over Northern Colorado wasn't supposed to be that difficult.

There are serious problems with this team. How do you give up 86 points to the Bears? How do you continue to struggle against highly questionable opponents?

That said, let's celebrate because there aren't going to be a lot of parties this season.

Richard Roby and Dominque Coleman (pictured) busted out for 21 points each, freshman guard and future star Xavier Silas netted 17 more, freshman forward Jeremy Williams had his second-straight strong game with 12 points and another freshman, Kal Bay, buried a trio of three-pointers for 10 points.

The Buffs shot only 40 percent from the floor and missed 12 free throws yet escapes with a victory by a slim margin.

Be thankful tonight but know that nightmares are coming.
