Sooners taking caution with Buffs this weekend

At least one Oklahoma Sooner is wary of Colorado this weekend, despite all the "experts" picking the crimson and white to win the game.

Defensive end Larry Birdine, known as, how do we say this, chipper, kicks some love CU's way.

"They're going to be coming in and they're going to be firing all guns," Birdine told John Hoover of the Tulsa World. "I'm sure we can expect trick plays, they'll probably try onsides (kicks), anything to catch us off guard, anything to put us in a position to capitalize on our mistakes.

"We definitely can't take these guys lightly. I'm definitely a little nervous to play these dudes. They have nothing to lose; they might be amped up. I think this will be one of the tougher games that we have left on our schedule."

All you can hope is that doubt seeps through the Sooners' locker room. Think OU sees Colorado as better than the 1-6 record indicates? Think they see the Buffs as dangerous in spite of a quarterback struggling to throw the football?

Who knows what's going to go down come Saturday but obviously CU is not seen by opponents to be as pitiful as their record would lead you to believe.

So says Birdine.
