Monkey bucked, Buffs stampede Tech

Feel the monkey?

Where's the monkey?

It's gone!

Colorado threw that thing off in impressive fashion with a 30-6 rout of Texas Tech at Folsom Field, ending a 10-game losing streak, spanning last season and this one, the longest such skid in 117 years.

Coach Dan Hawkins, steady as a rock through the six defeats on his watch summed up the victory.

"For these guys to understand really how to look the dragon in the eye and keep coming back in the face of adversity ... yeah, it's easy to hang your head, it's easy to question ... they learned a great lesson in life," he said in an Associated Press story by Pat Graham.

Hawkins continues to show he isn't just about lip service. He walks the walk. He wants to win football games, he needs to win football games, but he truly cares about imparting an education to his players too. He is showing them how to make something out of nothing and how that doesn't come easy.

The Buffs stuck with the run, 46 times, and that is what this team needs to do. Tailback Hugh Charles, who's production continues to prove effective, ripped off 119 yards. Quarterback Bernard Jackson threw for two touchdowns and 151 yards while scoring once on the ground, totaling 205 yards for the game.

Tight end Riar Geer and receiver Jarrell Yates, both Colorado preps, caught scoring strikes.

Mason Crosby kicked a trio of field goals, including cannon shots from 56 and 53 yards.

Sing the fight song loudly, as today the Buffs are back in the winners circle.

Note...analysis and much more on Sunday.
