Black and Gold Big 12 Review

Wasn't pretty, wasn't a building block, wasn't much to write home about, regrettably, as Colorado traveled to Norman for the privilege of getting beat 24-3 by Oklahoma.

Special teams was disappointing, the offense, well, it was much worse. Atrocious.

The scoreboard may show 24 points from OU but the Buff defense played hard, hit harder and could have been enough with any sort of reasonable production offensively.

More tomorrow on this game.

Around the conference, a little more excitement, if you like such a thing.

Ryan Baily
knocks through a 22-yard field goal with 23 seconds remaining to give Texas a 22-20 victory over Nebraska in Lincoln. Colt McCoy takes four sacks but throws for 222 yards and two scores in the victory. Nebraska is definitely improved but it doesn't have the so-called quality victory this season, having been dumped by USC earlier. The Longhorns don't have the star power of a year ago but are still an excellent team.

Graham Harrell
looked like an All American one week after looking like a scrub against Colorado, throwing six touchdown passes for Texas Tech in a 42-26 road victory over Iowa State.

Don't think what Ron Collins' unit wasn't impressive in the Buffs' shutdown effort over the Red Raiders? Ask Dan McCarney and Iowa State that question.

Chase Daniel tosses four touchdown strikes for Missouri as the Tigers bounce Kansas State 41-21 in Columbia. Daniel is on his way to becoming the best quarterback in school history. Yes, over Brad Smith. Daniel is yet another undersized guy under center excelling in the college game.

Stephen McGee shows Bernard Jackson what's possible from the quarterback position with 191 yards and two touchdowns through the air and 88 yards rushing in a 34-33 Texas A & M win over Oklahoma State in Stillwater. Javorskie Lane also bulldozes his way into the end zone twice for the Aggies, giving him 16 touchdowns this season.

Shawn Bell throws three touchdown passes in the fourth quarter, and five in the game, as Baylor beats Kansas 36-35. Jon Cornish runs for 196 yards for the Jayhawks in the loss. Baylor is not a gimme win anymore as the Bears are again competitive. Cornish continues to be an outstanding player on a disappointing Kansas team.
