Big-12 menu, lab work, Sunday look

Today's menu for Big-12 buckets has, as its' highlight, sixth-ranked Texas A & M at Oklahoma.

Look for the Aggies to be eager to erase the stain of the loss to Bob Knight's Texas Tech rebels, who love to overthrow the conference elite. The Sooners are capable of winning this game but won't. Look for A & M's size to wear down OU star forward Nate Carter while also neutralizing center Longar Longar. Billy Gillispie has balance on his roster but will use point guard Acie Law as his main weapon -- he'll be a tough check for the Sooners, especially down the stretch. Kevin Sherrington of the Dallas Morning News told me Law struggles in a lot of games but usually comes on strong late.

In other games, CU has little shot in Lubbock against Texas Tech. Yes, the Red Raiders are schizophrenic, beating bullies, losing to lesser playground rivals but they will feast on a Buffs' team with little direction and even less confidence. Don't kill the messenger. Tip him.

Ninth-ranked Kansas will swarm Nebraska center Alexs Maric, taking away the Huskers' strongest power, and then roll the visitors in an easy win; No. 18 Oklahoma State is so up-and-down but will get the positive reinforcement it needs for its' fragile psyche with a home victory over Missouri; Texas will travel to Waco and clobber Baylor, a team with talent but no clue; Kansas State will wrestle Iowa State in Manhattan before posting a win.

BGT lab work

Went to work in the BGT lab and came up with some TV rap sheets for you. Free with today's admission.

Best shot at an upset: Oklahoma, Iowa State, Missouri

Money in the bank: Kansas, Texas Tech, Texas

Vulnerable today: Texas A & M (if OU plays the best defense and Carter/Longar excel)

Buffs' spread: ain't gonna be pretty -- Red Raiders by 19.

Resolution: promise to be more optimistic next season. Love the players, minus the hole in the middle, but when the captain can't steer, what do you expect?

Later today and this evening, the BGT will bring you recaps and the run on the day's action.
